HELLO FROM REACH OUT CHATHAM-KENT!

In April of this year, we moved into our new drop-in space at 233 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg.

Between this space in Wallaceburg and our drop in centre in Chatham, we have created a rhythm and support network that now encompasses more than one avenue of engagement.

Funding from Health Canada has expanded our Peer-2-Peer team, amplifying the voices of People With Lived Expertise and enabling harm reduction efforts in smaller C-K communities.

This has cemented our vision and idealism that peer work, peer voices, and peer leadership has been the most vital and necessary integration into all our programming.

While the work has been exhausting and challenging, the growth in our community in all sectors gives us hope and shows its rewards in many ways. We are a trusted name for the people we serve.

That, ultimately, is the greatest achievement.

wallaceburg drop-in update

The centre is open Monday to Friday from 1-5 PM. Those who visit have access to meals, snacks, harm reduction supplies, and hygiene items. This space has become a safe haven and a community hub for our friends who visit. Operating from this new location has been a great success, and we’ve received an incredible amount of positive feedback from those we serve.

HARM REDUCTION: SAVE A LIFE. CARRY NALoxonE.

What is Naloxone? Naloxone is a medication that temporarily counters the effects of opioid overdose. Naloxone only works if a person has opioids in their system. When in doubt, use Naloxone. It will cause no harm if an opioid is not present.

R.O.C.K. is a distributor of Naloxone in CK, and it is also available free of charge at local pharmacies.

WEEKLY OUTREACH

Our outreach team in Wallaceburg goes into the community every Wednesday to distribute lunches, harm reduction supplies, and hygiene items. We connect with those experiencing houselessness or insecure housing, substance use, and mental health challenges.
